Cabinet Ideas, Straight From the Bench
Material comparisons, layout advice, and lessons from 16 years of building cabinetry. The answers we give at the jobsite, written down.
The Questions Homeowners Ask Us Before They Order Cabinets
Almost everything here started as a question somebody asked during a jobsite measurement or a walk through our shop. What plywood are you using? Can you build to an odd size? How long does fabrication actually take? Those conversations happen every week, so we started writing the answers down for anyone comparing cabinet shops before they commit to a build.
Expect practical reading: how material and hardwood choices change the lifespan of a run, how a kitchen is planned around the space you actually have, and what to look for in a warranty. If you want quick answers instead, the questions we hear most are all in one place.
Everything we write about, we build ourselves — all fabrication happens in our Chattanooga shop, so nothing here is guesswork about someone else's factory order.

How to choose a cabinet contractor before you sign anything
Two cabinet bids can look identical and be built from completely different material. These are the four questions that tell you which is which: what the box is made of, who fabricates it, what the warranty covers, and who measures before a price exists. Includes a decision matrix to take to your next appointment.
